We narrow the available granite or quartz options around the look and priorities of the project.
Once the cabinetry is ready, the countertop layout, sink, cooktop, overhangs and important dimensions are confirmed.
The stone is cut, shaped, polished and prepared for the confirmed space.
The finished pieces are delivered, fitted and checked with attention to the visible details and final fit.
The overall slab creates the first impression, but the finished edge, clean openings and careful transitions are what make the countertop feel complete once it is installed.
Select custom stone projects call for the same planning, fabrication and finishing used in a premium countertop. Oak Bay Rock & Tile takes on distinctive feature work where that stone-fabrication experience adds value.
Quartz is an engineered stone with a consistent pattern and non-porous surface, making it straightforward to maintain. Granite is a natural stone where each slab has its own movement, colour and character. The right choice depends on the kitchen layout, design style and how the surface will be used. Oak Bay Rock & Tile can help narrow the options.
Yes. The quote form includes a "Help me choose" option. Oak Bay Rock & Tile will discuss the space, style and use before making a recommendation.
Cabinets should be fully installed and level before templating. Walls behind the cabinets should be finished. The sink and cooktop models should be confirmed so the appropriate cutouts can be planned.
Not always. Seam placement depends on the cabinet run length, available slab dimensions and the natural material. Oak Bay Rock & Tile reviews layout early to minimise seams wherever the material and design allow, but cannot guarantee a seamless result on every project.
Before fabrication begins, Oak Bay Rock & Tile reviews the cabinet layout, slab dimensions and any features such as sinks, cooktops or islands. Seam placement is chosen to minimise visibility while respecting the slab size and natural material pattern.
Granite may benefit from periodic sealing depending on the specific stone and how it is used. Oak Bay Rock & Tile can advise on the stone selected for your project. Avoid harsh chemicals and wipe acidic spills such as citrus or wine promptly.
The sink and cooktop models should be confirmed before the template visit so that cutout dimensions and positions can be planned accurately. Undermount sinks in particular need to be on hand or specified by model number.
Approximate dimensions, the room type, the material preference and any cabinet drawings or photographs are helpful. A rough sketch or phone-camera photos of the space are also useful. The quote form accepts file uploads.
